The Old Me

Someone said that

They missed the old me.

But we change as much

as the river continues to flow.

So watch me struggle, watch me fight

Watch me learn and grow.

For I am not the old me.

But I will not be the same ‘me’ tomorrow

That I was today.

And today’s ‘me’

Is not yesterday’s me.’

To continue without growth

Is to live in the night

and go without sunlight.

Why wish for the old me,

When I’m learning just how much I could be.
